7-Month MPASI Recipe: Homemade Beef & Sweet Potato Stew, Full of Nutrition & Delicious

As your baby enters 7 months of age, their need for iron, protein, and energy increases significantly. This Beef & Sweet Potato Stew is the perfect nutrient-dense meal, combining tender beef, sweet potato, and vitamin-rich vegetables into a soft and flavorful dish that’s gentle on tiny tummies.

This recipe can be easily adjusted for both spoon-fed purées and self-feeding BLW (Baby-Led Weaning) methods.

🛒 Ingredients (for 1 meal ±90–100gr):

  • 30 grams of sweet potato

  • 40 grams of minced beef

  • 10 grams of chopped carrots

  • 1 cherry tomato (remove seeds)

  • 60–80 ml beef stock (adjust texture)

Aromatic Seasoning (remove before serving):

  • 1 clove garlic (finely chopped)

  • ¼ small onion or shallot (chopped)

  • 1 small sprig of fresh rosemary

How to Make:

  1. Prepare the Sweet Potato:
Steam or boil until soft. Set aside. For BLW, cut into finger-sized pieces.

  2. Sauté the Aromatics:
In a small pan, heat a bit of EVOO or coconut oil. Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.

  3. Cook the Beef:
Add ground beef, stir well, and cook until browned and fully cooked.

  4. Add Vegetables & Broth:
Pour in the beef broth. Add the chopped carrot, cherry tomato, and rosemary. Simmer gently until all ingredients are soft and flavors have combined.

  5. Remove Herbs:
Discard rosemary stem and tomato skin (if peeled) before blending.

  6. Adjust Texture Based on Age & Method:

    • For MPASI (Puree): Blend or mash everything including the sweet potato until you reach the desired consistency. Add more broth to thin it out if needed.

    • For BLW (Finger Food): Serve tender beef chunks, carrot, cherry tomato halves, and soft sweet potato sticks separately on a baby-safe plate.

🌟 Nutritional Benefits:

  • Beef: Excellent source of iron (heme), high-quality protein, and vitamin B12—supports red blood cell production and brain development.

  • Sweet Potato: Rich in beta-carotene (vitamin A), fiber, and vitamin C—supports digestion and immune function.

  • Carrot & Tomato: Packed with antioxidants, vitamins A & C—great for eye health and boosting the immune system.

  • Herbs & Spices: Adds gentle flavor without the need for salt or sugar, helps train baby’s palate.
