7-Month Baby Food Recipe: Sweet & Sour Fish Packed with Omega-3 for Brain Development

At 7 months, babies are ready to explore more textures and flavors. This Sweet & Sour Fish recipe combines the savory softness of snakehead fish with the natural sweetness of honey pineapple, delivering Omega-3 to support brain development. The texture can be served as a smooth puree or as finger food for BLW.


Ingredients (for 1 serving, ±90–100gr)

  • 40 gr snakehead fish (can be substituted with salmon or mackerel)

  • 30 gr cooked white rice

  • 5 gr carrot (optional, can swap with other veggies)

  • 5 gr broccoli (optional, can swap with other veggies)

  • 5 ml honey pineapple juice

  • 1 cherry tomato (seeds removed)

  • 60–70 ml chicken broth

Aromatic Spices:

  • Garlic

  • Shallot


How to Cook

  1. Prepare Pineapple Juice: Blend pineapple pieces, strain, and set aside the juice.

  2. Sauté Aromatics: Heat a little oil, sauté garlic and shallot until fragrant.

  3. Cook the Fish: Add the fish, cook thoroughly, and shred into small pieces.

  4. Add Rice & Broth: Stir in the rice and some of the chicken broth until softened.

  5. Add Vegetables & Tomato: Mix in carrot, broccoli, and cherry tomato. Cook until tender.

 

 


Serving Suggestions

  • For Puree (MPASI): Blend all ingredients together, add pineapple juice, and ensure the puree is free from bones.

  • For BLW (Baby-Led Weaning): Serve shredded soft fish, steamed carrot & broccoli sticks, and pineapple juice separately.
