7-Month MPASI Recipe: Mackerel Pesmol, Rich in Omega-3 for Baby's Brain

The combination of mackerel, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, and rice creates a complete dish to support your little one's brain, vision, and immune development. 🍚 Ingredients (for 1 portion ±90–100 gr):

30 grams of cooked rice

40 grams of boneless mackerel

2 cherry tomatoes (remove seeds and skin if necessary)

5 grams of grated carrots (optional)

5 grams chopped broccoli (optional)

70–90 ml homemade chicken stock (adjust the texture)

A little EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) for sautéing
Aromatic Seasoning (remove before serving):

Onion and garlic

Bay leaves, ginger, galangal, turmeric

Lemongrass, lime leaves

Prepare the Mackerel:
Clean the fish and coat it with lime juice. After 5–10 minutes, rinse thoroughly and pan-fry with EVOO until cooked through. Set aside. -
Stir-fry Aromatic Spices:
Sauté the shallots and garlic until fragrant. Add all the other spices and stir well until fragrant. -
Cook Rice & Vegetables:
Add the rice, carrots, and broccoli, and pour in the chicken stock. Cook until the vegetables are soft and the rice has a porridge-like consistency. -
Add Fish & Cherry Tomatoes:
Add the cooked mackerel and sliced cherry tomatoes. Add the spring onions. Stir briefly to combine the flavors. -
Smooth & Adjust Texture:
Discard all large spices. Blend until smooth if serving as a puree. Add broth as needed for a smoother texture. -
Serve:

For baby puree : Serve smooth porridge in a small bowl.

For BLW : Serve soft rice with finger foods such as steamed carrot slices and chayote.
