Looking for a 6-month baby weaning recipe that is high in nutrition and suitable for little ones who are starting to eat solid foods? Come on, try Pindang Snakehead Fish with Spinach , a typical Indonesian menu that is rich in benefits!
Snakehead fish is known as a very high source of animal protein, while spinach contains iron and vitamins important for the growth and development of babies. This combination produces a complete menu that is suitable for both conventional parent-led baby weaning and BLW (Baby-Led Weaning) methods.
Ingredients (for one meal 90–100 gr):
-
30 grams of white rice
-
40 grams of boneless snakehead fish
-
10 grams of fresh spinach leaves
-
90–100 ml home made chicken stock (can be adjusted to suit the texture)
Aromatic Seasoning (remove before serving):
-
Chopped garlic
-
Chopped shallots
-
Crushed turmeric
-
Crushed galangal
-
Crushed ginger
-
Crushed lemongrass
-
Bay leaf
-
Basil leaves (add last, remove before serving)
🍳 How to Make:
1. Saute the aromatic spices
Heat some olive or coconut oil. Saute garlic and shallots until fragrant, then add all the aromatic spices. Saute for a while to release the aroma.
2. Cook Fish & Soup
Put water or stock in a pan. Add rice, stir well. Once boiling, add the snakehead fish. Cook until the rice becomes soft (like porridge) and the fish is perfectly cooked.
3. Add Spinach
Add the spinach at the end, cook briefly until wilted. Remove all aromatic herbs and basil before serving.
🥣 Adjust the Texture According to the Baby's Age:
-
For MPASI: Puree rice, fish, and spinach in a blender. Add a little broth for a smoother result. Strain if necessary.
-
For BLW: Serve very tender fish pieces and boiled spinach leaves as finger food. Serve the broth as a side soup.
🌱 Benefits of Snakehead Fish and Spinach Soup for Babies:
-
Snakehead Fish: Rich in protein, helps build muscle and accelerates cell regeneration.
-
Spinach: Contains natural iron and vitamin K, important for the immune system and brain development of babies.
