6-Month Old Baby Weaning Recipe: Delicious and Highly Nutritious Beef Rendang for Babies
Want to introduce your baby to rich, spicy flavors from an early age? Try Beef Rendang Baby , a lighter and smoother version of classic rendang, perfect for solid food from 6 months onward . Using minced beef, coconut milk, and fresh vegetables, this nutrient-dense dish can be served as porridge or as a side dish for baby-led weaning (BLW) .
Ingredients (for 1 meal ±90–100gr):

30 grams of minced beef

3 tbsp cooked white rice

10 grams of grated carrots

10 grams of chopped spinach leaves

1 cherry tomato (remove seeds)

Spring onions to taste

30 ml homemade coconut milk
-
70–90 ml homemade beef stock (adjust texture)

EVOO or coconut oil for sautéing
Finely ground spices (blend/crush):

Garlic

Red onion
-
Turmeric
-
Galangal
-
Ginger (a pinch each)
Aromatic Seasoning (remove before serving):

1 candlenut
-
1 small piece of cinnamon

1–2 cloves
-
1 stalk of lemongrass (crushed)
How to Make Beef Rendang for Baby Food:

Stir-fry Spices & Meat:
Heat a little oil. Sauté the aromatic spices until fragrant. Add the ground spices and sauté briefly. Add the minced beef and stir-fry until it changes color. -
Cook with Coconut Milk & Stock:
Pour in the coconut milk and beef stock. Stir well, then cook over low heat until the meat is tender and the sauce has reduced slightly. -
Add Rice & Vegetables:
Add the white rice, carrots, and spring onions. Stir until evenly mixed and the mixture forms a porridge-like consistency. Finally, add the spinach and tomatoes. Cook briefly until wilted. -
Puree or Serve According to Age:
Discard the aromatic spices. Puree with a blender or strain for pureed baby food. Add broth if the texture is too thick. For BLW, serve with soft steamed carrot pieces. -
Serve:
Pour into small bowls. Serve warm, with finger foods to accompany.
