6 mo Baby Weaning Recipe: Soft and Healthy Kabocha Squash and Banana Puree

Naturally sweet kabocha squash combined with banana creates a delicious and nutritious puree. This recipe is ideal for introducing new flavors to babies aged 6 months and can be adapted for both solid and BLW feeding methods.

Ingredients:

  • 100 grams kabocha squash (peeled, cut into small pieces)
  • 1 ripe banana (choose a sweet type of banana such as a Cavendish banana or Ambon banana)
  • 50 ml boiled water

How to make:

  1. Boil the Kabocha Squash: place the kabocha squash pieces in a saucepan, add water, and boil until tender (about 10 minutes).
  2. Pumpkin Puree: Blend the cooked pumpkin until smooth.
  3. Add Bananas: Place ripe bananas in a blender with the pumpkin, and puree until well combined.

  4. Customize Texture:

    • For baby weaning: Add a little water if necessary to make the consistency more liquid.
    • For toddlers 12+ months: Serve the puree as a dip or shape into small balls that are easy for baby to hold.

Important Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas to bring out the natural sweetness.
  • Introduce this recipe gradually to monitor for allergic reactions in your baby.

Benefits of This Recipe:

  • Kabocha Squash: Rich in vitamin A, fiber, and antioxidants.
  • Bananas: A natural source of energy, potassium, and vitamin B6 for baby's brain development.
