6 Month MPASI Recipe: Broccoli Rice with Free-Range Chicken Broth for Nutritious BLW

When babies reach 6 months, they are ready to start exploring solid foods! One recipe that is healthy, nutritious, and easy to make is Chicken Broccoli Rice . This recipe is perfect for babies who are just starting on solids, and is also Baby Led Weaning (BLW) friendly.


Ingredients:

  • 50 grams of white rice (cooked)
  • 50 grams broccoli (cooked until soft)
  • 100 ml chicken stock (click the link for how to make homemade chicken stock without salt)
  • 1 tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil (optional, for added healthy fats)

How to make:

  1. Prepare the ingredients:
    Wash the broccoli thoroughly, then steam it until soft. Make sure the texture is easy to crush with baby's fingers.

  2. Mix Rice with Broth:
    Place the white rice in a small saucepan, add the chicken stock, and heat until it becomes soft. Stir well.

  3. Add Broccoli:
    Once the rice and broth are combined, add the steamed broccoli. Stir again until well blended.

  4. Puree or Serve According to Stages:

    • For MPASI: Puree using a blender or sieve until the texture suits the baby's eating ability.
    • For BLW: Cut broccoli into finger-sized pieces, and serve rice in small balls that your baby can hold easily.
  5. Add Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Optional):
    If desired, add olive oil for added healthy fats.


Important Tips:

  • Use homemade free-range chicken stock. This stock is safer because it is fresh, free of salt and preservatives.
  • Make sure the broccoli is cooked until it is soft, so that the baby can chew it with their gums.
  • Always supervise your baby while eating to avoid the risk of choking.
