9+ Month MPASI Recipe: Gado-Gado — A Nutritious Peanut Sauce & Vegetable Dessert for Your Little One

When babies start to take an interest in the food we eat, it's a great time to experiment with solid food versions of family dishes —including Gado-Gado!
This baby-friendly version of Gado-Gado uses a mild peanut sauce , chicken protein, and a variety of nutritious vegetables. It's savory, light, and can be served as a textured porridge or as a BLW finger food .

This menu is suitable for 9-month-olds because it uses natural ingredients without salt , a soft texture, and a mild but satisfying peanut flavor.

🥣 Ingredients (for 1 meal, ±90–100 gr)

  • 3 tbsp white rice

  • 30 grams of minced chicken

  • 10 grams of chayote, cut into small pieces

  • 5 grams of long beans (optional, can be replaced with other vegetables)

  • 40–50 ml homemade chicken broth (to adjust texture)

👩🍳 How to Make

  1. Make the peanut sauce:
Puree roasted/boiled peanuts with a little water or stock until soft, or use unsalted peanut butter.

Add stock little by little until the vegetables are tender.

  6. Remove spices:
Remove the ginger and lime leaves before serving.

FAQ

1. Is peanut sauce safe for babies?
If your child doesn't have a peanut allergy, peanut sauce is safe to give as long as it's salt-free, sugar-free, soy sauce-free, and has a smooth consistency. Introduce peanuts as an allergen gradually.

Tips from Mummasphere:

Be careful when giving foods containing peanuts for the first time, as some babies are highly allergic to peanuts and the reaction can be dangerous . If you're unsure, patch test a small amount of peanut seasoning on your baby's hand and monitor their skin for a reaction . If the skin turns red, discontinue giving the peanuts and consult a pediatrician immediately.

2. Can this recipe be made without chicken?
Can be replaced with steamed tempeh, silken tofu, eggs, or soft fish.

3. Can I add sweet soy sauce or salt?
Not for babies. Family versions may have seasoning added after the baby food is separated.

4. Is the texture of Gado-Gado suitable for BLW?
Yes, as long as the vegetables and chicken are cooked very tender and cut into safe sizes.

5. Can it be saved?
It can be kept in the refrigerator for 24 hours, but the peanut sauce and main dish should be kept separate to maintain the texture.
