FAQs - FRIGG Pacifiers
Pacifiers made from natural materials are relatively rare on the market, especially in Indonesia. This is because the production is quite difficult and requires a factory with a large investment to maintain the quality of pacifiers made from natural rubber.
Therefore, we often get various questions from parents/parents-to-be about FRIGG pacifiers. Here are the most frequently asked questions we receive about FRIGG pacifiers on our various social media channels.
How to Clean FRIGG Natural Rubber Pacifier?
- Place the pacifier in a clean bowl .
- Pour boiling water into a bowl.
- Soak the pacifier for approximately 5 minutes .
- Take the pacifier and let it dry .
- Once the pacifier has cooled sufficiently, squeeze out any excess water remaining inside the pacifier.
Warning!
- Do not boil pacifiers in a pot. They are not designed to be boiled, and high heat can damage the elasticity of the natural rubber material.
- Avoid using UV sterilizers , washing machines , or chemicals and detergents on pacifiers. Use a bottle washing soap that is as natural as possible (SLS and artificial fragrance/coloring free)
How Often Should Pacifiers Be Cleaned?
The younger the baby, the more important it is to keep the pacifier clean to protect against bacteria and viruses. This is because a baby's immune system is not fully developed until 3 months of age. Premature babies, newborns, and babies up to 3 months of age are more susceptible to infections than older babies.
Premature Babies, Newborns, and Ages 0-3 Months:
- Pacifiers should be cleaned with boiling water every time they fall on the floor .
- Additionally, clean the pacifier at least once a day following the steps above.
Babies Over 3 Months:
- Rinse the pacifier once a day with boiling water.
- If the pacifier falls on the floor, rinse it with cold water .
Vital Records:
All FRIGG pacifiers have a valve at the end that allows air to escape when the baby bites the pacifier. As the air escapes through the valve, the pacifier flattens and molds to the shape of the baby's mouth.
This valve also allows water to enter the pacifier after cleaning. After sterilizing, be sure to squeeze out any excess water from the pacifier once it has cooled sufficiently.
Although not all the water can be removed (as there will be some condensation), this is not harmful to the baby.
Why Doesn't FRIGG Make a Size 3 Pacifier?
We recommend that you stop using a pacifier before the age of 3. This is why we do not produce FRIGG pacifiers in size 3. Long-term pacifier use can cause dental problems, but if your child stops using a pacifier at the age of 3, the affected teeth still have time to return to their original position naturally.
My Child is 18+ Months Old. Can He Still Use the FRIGG Pacifier?
Yes, FRIGG size 2 pacifiers can still be used after 18+ months. However, we recommend that you stop using the pacifier between the ages of 2-3 years to avoid dental problems. Read more about this in our blog, “When to Stop Using FRIGG Pacifiers in Children”.
Does Pacifier Use Cause Dental Problems?
We understand that many parents are concerned about the effects of pacifiers, especially since it is difficult to stop a child from using a habit once they have become accustomed to it.
Long-term use of pacifiers can cause dental problems such as open bite , protruding teeth, crossbite , and changes in the shape of the roof of the mouth. The longer a pacifier is used, the more likely the child is to need orthodontic treatment later in life.
However, if a child stops using a pacifier before the age of 3, the affected tooth can usually still correct its position on its own.
Can FRIGG Size 2 Pacifiers Be Used for Newborns?
Yes, of course you can! We even find that many newborns prefer a size 2 as their first pacifier. Every child is unique and has different preferences when it comes to pacifiers. The pacifier sizes are just a guideline, so if your baby prefers a size 2 over a size 1, that’s totally fine.
Which Nipple is Recommended for Breastfed Babies?
We recommend using a round nipple (FRIGG designs such as Daisy, Rope, Moon Phase, Night, and Fairytale ), especially if your baby is starting to use a pacifier early. This is because babies use the same sucking technique on a round pacifier as they do on the breast. This reduces the risk of nipple confusion and makes it easier for babies to switch between breastfeeding and using a pacifier. Why is My Child's New Pacifier Smaller Than His Old One?
Natural rubber pacifiers will grow or stretch with use. Read more about this in our blog, “Why Are New FRIGG Pacifiers Smaller Than Old Ones?”.
Why Should Pacifiers Be Replaced Every 4-8 Weeks?
For hygiene and safety , it is important to replace the pacifier every 4-8 weeks . The longer the pacifier is used, the more bacteria will accumulate. In addition, the more often it is used, signs of damage such as bite marks and cracks will also appear on the nipple.
Hygiene reasons are also an important consideration when replacing pacifiers regularly. The longer a pacifier is used, the more bacteria will build up on it. Therefore, your child should not use the same pacifier for more than 8 weeks – even if it appears to be in good condition.
Notes:
If the nipple of a natural rubber pacifier is getting bigger, it is a sign that the pacifier needs to be replaced. Natural rubber pacifiers are not as strong as silicone pacifiers – they can even age just by being stored in a cupboard. Therefore, do not buy too many natural rubber pacifiers at once, just buy as much as you need.
How Can I See Pacifier Size?
The pacifier size is written on the nipple (near the pacifier shield). Check there to make sure you are buying the right size.
How to Make Pacifiers Last Longer?
With proper care, your child's pacifier will last longer. Dirt can speed up the deterioration of the pacifier, so it's best to store the pacifier in a clean, dry place. When traveling, make sure the pacifier is stored in a special protective container .
How to Make FRIGG Night Pacifiers Glowing More?
FRIGG Night can be placed under a lit lamp for 1 minute before use.
